Well to begin, scientists have many, many, many tools to study the brain. And each tool is for different aspects of the brain. Scientists study the brains behavior doing different behavior tests like stress tests, dopamine (meaning pleasure to the brain like video games, sex, satisfying things etc.). sometimes scientists also used microscopes to look at the brain.

The most common ways of scanning the brain is an EEG, PET, MRI, and fMRI.
