t-test is used to determine if their is a significant difference between averages or means of two groups or data set. There are three types of t-test;

Independent sample t-test which compares the means for two group; paired sample t-test which compares at the different times the means from the same data set or group and finally one sample t-test which compares a single group against a known mean. It involves the forming of null hypothesis; the two mean are the same or equal and after several calculations to get some important values, the values are compared with standard values and the null hypothesis is either accepted or rejected.
