Maximum number of minutes, Rachel can talk to stay within her budge is 150 minutes

Solution:

Rachel pays a flat rate of $5 per month plus $.10 per minute for her long distance phone plan

Let "x" be the total number of minutes

Therefore,

Total monthly Bill = 5 + 0.10x

She wants her total monthly bill to be less than $20

So we have to use "less than or equal to" symbol

5 + 0.10x \leq 20\\\\Solve\ the\ inequality

5 + 0.10x\leq 20\\\\Subtract\ 5\ from\ both\ sides\\\\0.10x \leq 20-5\\\\0.10x\leq 15\\\\Divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 0.10\\\\x\leq 150

Thus maximum number of minutes, Rachel can talk to stay within her budge is 150 minutes
