(3) Area of the figure = 17 ft²

(4) Area of the figure = 30.28 m²

Solution:

(3) The given image is splitted into two shapes.

One is small rectangle and the other is large rectangle.

Length of the small rectangle = 5 ft – 3 ft = 2 ft

Width of the small rectangle = 1 ft

Area of the small rectangle = length × width

= 2 ft × 1 ft

Area of the small rectangle = 2 ft²

Length of the large rectangle = 5 ft

Width of the large rectangle = 4 ft – 1 ft = 3 ft

Area of the large rectangle = length × width

= 5 ft × 3 ft

Area of the large rectangle = 15 ft²

Area of the figure = 2 ft² + 15 ft²

Area of the figure = 17 ft²

(4) The given image is splitted into two shapes.

One is rectangle and the other is semi-circle.

Length of the rectangle = 6 m

Width of the rectangle = 4 m

Area of the rectangle = length × width

= 6 m × 4 m

= 24 m²

Area of the rectangle = 24 m²

Diameter of the semi-circle = 4 m

Radius of the semi-circle = 4 m ÷ 2 = 2 m

Area of the semi-circle =
(1)/(2) \ \pi r^2

$=(1)/(2) * 3 .14 * 2^2

=6.28

Area of the semi-circle = 6.28 m²

Area of the figure = 24 m² + 6.28 m²

= 30.28 m²

Area of the figure = 30.28 m²
