Explanation:

If you put the points on a graph you can see the shape is a trapezoid. The left and right sides are the bases, the bottom is the height. The area formula is to average the bases and times by the height. see image. You could do a lot of distance formula and slope calculations, but on the graph you can count the squares to find side lengths.
