Slave code were a set of laws during the colonial period and in individual states after the American revolution the reason they created these laws were used to indicate that status of the slaves in each jurisdiction does this answer your question hoped I helped

the rights of enslaved people to buy, sell, and produce goods were introduced. In some places, slave tags were required to be worn by enslaved people to prove that they were allowed to participate in certain types of work.
