Let n ne the no. of days taken to get to the top of the well.

For the (n-1) days, it moves up by 6 feet and on the nth day, it moves up by 8 feet

6(n-1) + 8 = 26

6(n-1) = 18

n-1 = 18/6 = 3

n = 3+1

n = 4
