Ryan is driving to Phoenix. Suppose that the distance to his destination (in miles) is a linear function of his total driving time (in minutes). Ryan has 58 miles to his destination after 33 minutes of driving, and he has 46.8 miles to his destination after 47 minutes of driving. How many miles will he have to his destination after 51 minutes of driving?

Answer:

35.5 miles?

Explanation:

47-33=14 minutes to 58-46.8=11.2 miles

140/112=70/56=35/28=5/4 miles per minute

58+33(5/4)=99 1/4 total miles in his trip

51(5/4)=63 3/4

99 1/4-63 3/4=35.5

I hope this helps.
