Explanation:Functional fixedness refers to a cognitive bias which makes us consider an object to work only in a particular way and not consider it for other potential use.

For example a paper clip is used to hold papers but I'd you open up to what else it can do ,you may find yourself using it to open up a locked door in case you lost your keys

Functional fixedness prevent us from thinking creatively and seeing object in a full range of uses.

Al is able to overcome this because he didn't see a spatula as an object used only for one function but he creatively figure out it can also scrap the ice.
