What number solves the equation - 7 x + 5 = 47 ?

x as -6 would solve this equation.

You just want to isolate x for this problem, in order to do this you want to first subtract 5 on both sides of the equation so you get the new equation -7x=42. Next divide both sides by -7 to get x fully by itself and you then get x=-6
