This depends on the software in question. If it's edutainment software, folks, AND if that software was very high quality to begin with, then not only will students learn something new to them, they will be more engaged in the learning process and enjoy doing so.

You want students to want to learn learn learn all of the time about many different things and topics. You ideally want those students to learn HOW to learn and not just what to learn ----- and computer software is IMHO a great way to do just that.
