a. Write down the balanced equation for this process.
b. If a mixture contains 1.15 kg of each reactant, how many grams of calcium carbide can be
prepared?

Answer:CaO + 3C -------------->CaC2 + CO.

Step-by-step explanation:

If 1 mole of CaO has a mass of 40+16= 56g and produces 1 mole of CaC2 of mass 40+2(12)=40+24=64

Then 1.15g of CaO will yield 1.15*64/56=1.3g of CaC2
