Sheets of canvas have been hung over the waiting lines to provide shade. Each canvas sheet is in the shape of a triangle with side lengths of 50 feet, 75 feet, and 75 feet. What is the area of each canvas sheet?

C.1767.8 square feet

Explanation:

use heron's formula to solve (see attached)

perimeter = 50 + 75 + 75 = 200 feet

p = perimeter / 2 = 200/2 = 100

from heron's formula

A = √ [ p(p-a)(p-b)(p-c)]

= √[100 (100-50)(100-75)(100-75) ]

= √[100·50·25·25 ]

=√3,125,000

= 1767.77 (within rounding errors, closest answer is C)
