g(x) is basically y

so think of the equation like

y=4x^2-7x+12

g(x)=4x^2-7x+12

substitute -3 in for x

g(-3)=4(-3)^2-7(-3)+12

g(-3)=4(9)+21+12

g(-3)=36+21+12

g(-3)=57+12

g(-3)=69
