The reason why is because if it has a perimeter of 70 and a length of 20 so because the perimeter is 70 that means it has a width of 15 and then multiply 15 times 20 and get 300.

70 = (20 x 2) + 2x

70 = 40 + 2x

70 - 40 = 40 - 40 + 2x all of that math gets you the width then you

30 = 2x multiply the width times the length and get

30/2 = 2x/2 the area which is 300.

15 = x
