For a science project, James needs two cube-shaped boxes, one painted white, and the other painted black. James will place a thermometer inside each box, set it in the sun, and measure temperature differences. The edge of each box is 2.3 feet long. What is the surface area of both boxes that James will need to paint, if he does not paint the bottom of either box?

Answer:

52.9 feet squared

Step by Step:

you got 2 boxes, so let's just calculate the surface area and multiply by 2.

5 sides of a box with an area of (2.3 feet)²

so we can calculate

2*5*2.3feet²

makes 52.9 feet squared
