To convert an improper fraction, you will need to divide the denominator (bottom number) by the numerator (top number)
-For example:
15/6 will equal 2 3/6 or 2 1/2 because 6 can go into 15 two times with one half left over

Follow these 3 steps to convert a mixed number to an improper fraction:
Multiply the whole number by the denominator
Add the answer from Step 1 to the numerator
Write answer from Step 2 over the denominator
A mixed number is a whole number plus a fractional part. An improper fraction is a fraction where the numerator (top number) is larger than the denominator (bottom number). You can convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions without changing the value of the figure.
