John mixed together 9 liters of Brand A fruit drink which contains 14% fruit juice and 8 gallons of Brand B fruit drink which contains 48% fruit juice. What is the percent of fruit juice in the resulting mixture?

Explanation:

Amount of fruit juice in 9 liters of Brand A fruit drinks which contain 14% fruit juice will be
9 * (14)/(100) = 1.26 liters.

Again, the amount of fruit juice in 8 gallons i.e. (8 × 4.546) = 36.368 liters of Brand B fruit drinks which contain 48% fruit juice will be
36.368 * (48)/(100) = 17.456 liters.

Therefore, mixing those two brands we will get (9 + 36.368) = 45.369 liters of fruit drinks within which (1.26 + 17.456) = 18.716 liters of fruit juice.

So, the % of fruit juice in the mixture will be
(18.716)/(45.369) * 100 \% = 41.25 \% (Answer)
