If two angles are supplementary, then their sum is equal to 180 degrees

Let

x ----> the measure of the larger angle

y ---> the measure of the smaller angle

we have that


x+y=180 ----> equation A


x=3y+4 ----> equation B

Solve the system by substitution

substitute equation B in equation A


3y+4+y=180

solve for y


4y+4=180\\4y=176\\y=44^o

Find the value of x


x=3(44)+4=136^o
