Answer:

Traditions in Southern and Northern Europe different significantly. Let us look at the Christmas traditions in Rome, Italy and Tallinn, Estonia.

Because it is a fasting day, during Christmas Eve in Rome, Italians do not eat meat, because they believe that this purifies their bodies. Dishes made with different kinds of fish, seafood, and vegetables are served at the table. The majority of Romans are Catholic Christians, and after dinner, families go to the church for the Midnight Mass.

Meanwhile, Estonians who live in Tallinn, eat a variety of meat dishes for the Christmas dinner. Oven-baked pork and different blood sausages are served with cranberry jam. In addition, Estonia is the least religious country in Europe, and people do not go to church. Instead, they spend the rest of the evening with family and friends enjoying hot wine and warmth inside of homes. This is traditional for the whole Estonia.
