What is the solution to the equation 3(x-4)=2(x-6)

Answer:

Infinity, either way you do it you get infinity

Explanation:

3 ( x -4 ) = 2 ( x - 6 )

Distribute 3 into ( x - 4 ) and distribute 2 into ( x - 6 )

3x - 12 = 2x - 12

Now since you can't have X on both sides you got to get rid of one, so minus 2x from both sides

( 3x - 2x ) - 12 = ( 2x - 2x ) - 12 ( the 2x cancels out on this side)

1x - 12 = - 12

Now add 12 to both sides ( if it were positive you would subtract it )

1x ( - 12 + 12 ) = ( -12 + 12 ) the 12 cancels out on both sides)

1x = 0 now divide the 1 to both sides

And you get INFINITY or - INFINITY
