If chopstick is to be fitted along a diagonal . then length of the diagonal will be:

d = s = 24 cm

Applying Pythagoras Theorem :


l^2+l^2=(24 cm)^2


2l^2=576 cm


l^2=(576)/(2) cm^2


l=\sqrt{(576)/(2) cm^2}=16,97 cm \approx 17 cm

17 cm is the side length of the smallest square plate.
