Ms. Woods has always liked poetry, and even though she was shy when she was younger, she loved acting out poems with different voices and sounds. When she was in third grade, she would act out the poems in her room in front of the mirror. She promised herself that when she became a teacher, her poetry class would be fun! And it is! Several students have already started performing, or slamming, their original poems in her class. What is the purpose of using third person omniscient point of view in this exposition?

Answer:

The author wants to give us information about the protagonist, Ms. Woods.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the excerpt above, The author does not position him/herself as part of the story. From this, we know that the author is using a third person point of view.

Pay attention to this part of the excerpt : Ms. Woods has always liked poetry, and even though she was shy when she was younger, she loved acting out poems with different voices and sounds.

Giving information about a character tend to be easier when the author used 3rd person point of view. When describing a character using a third person, the narrator has the ability to know what the character's thinking along with the character's past experience.
