example= leaves of plants, in Africa, point downward because Africa gets little rain if any. the leaves point downward because it directs the rain to the root of plant.

so, parts of the world, like rainforest, leaves are shaped like "cups" that animals that live in trees, can drink the h2o from leaves, Instead of leaving their habitats. if they were 2 travel downwards, preditors lurk,(snakes, chimpanzees, etc...) would be preditors...

It is necessary for leaves to adapt to different biomes and climates to be the most functional. For example, certain leaves have created a larger surface area in order to absorb more light and therefore create more energy. Furthermore, leaves have changed and produced veins which support and transport water and carbohydrates.
