Dorsal horn – Sensory
Ventral horn – Somatic motor
Lateral horn – Autonomic nervous system
Step-by-step explanation:
The dorsal horn is composed of the cell bodies of the sensory neurons. The sensory information which enters the spinal cord is received by the dorsal horn. It conveys sensory signals like touch, vibration etc.
The ventral horn is composed of the cell bodies of the motor neurons. The axons of these motor neurons extend into the skeletal muscles and innervate them. Muscular contractions are controlled by these neurons in the ventral horn. Somatic reflexes of the spinal cord are associated with the ventral horn.
The lateral horn is composed of the cell bodies of the visceral neurons or the sympathetic nervous system (of autonomic nervous system). It is found only in the thoracic segment.
