Answer:

Width is 120 feet

Length is 170 feet

Explanation:

Given: The perimeter of the flag is 580 feet

Length is 50 feet greater than the width.

Considering the shape of flag is rectangle.

Lets assume the width of flag be "w"

∴ Length of flag will be
(w+50)\ feet

Now, forming an equation of perimeter to find the measurement of width.

Remember;
Perimeter= 2l+2w

580= 2(w+50)+2w

Using distributive property of multiplication.

580= 2w+100+2w

580= 4w+100

Subtracting both side by 100

480= 4w

Dividing both side by 4

w= (480)/(4)

w= 120\ feet

Hence, width of the flag is 120 feet.

Next subtituting the value of w to find the length of flag.

⇒ length=
(w+50)\ feet

∴ Length=
(120+50)= 170\ feet

Hence, the length of flag is 170 feet.
