Jamie has saved $42 of her allowance money to buy books.If she buys 5 books at d dollars per book,she will have 42- 5d of her allowance left.How much does she have left if the books cost $3.50 each?

Each book is 7.70 because 42 - 3.50 is 38.50 then divided by 5 = 7.70

She has $24.50 left because 3.50 x 5 = 17.50 so you would subtract $17.50 from the $42 she originally had.
