Answer:

The values of x and y in the given equations are x=-5 and y=-8

Therefore the solution is (-5,-8)

Explanation:

Given equations are
8x-3y=-16\hfill (1)

and
5x+2y=-41\hfill (2)

To solve the equations by elimination method :

Multiply the equation (1) into 2 we get

24x-6y=-32\hfill (3)

Multiply the equation (2) into 2 we get

15x+6y=-123\hfill (4)

Adding the equations (3) and (4) we get

16x-6y=-32

15x+6y=-123

___________

31x=-155

=(-155)/(31)

Therefore x=-5

Substitute x=-5 in equation (1) we get

8(-5)-3y=-16

-40-3y=-16

-3y=-16+40

[tex]y=\frac{24}{-3}[/rex]

Therefore y=-8

The values of x and y in the given equations are x=-5 and y=-8

Therefore the solution is (-5,-8)
