Making y as subject in equation (1)

y = 2x - 3

Substituting y into (2)

7x - 2(2x - 3) = 3

Opening bracket

7x - 4x - 6 = 3

3x = 3 + 6

3x = 9

x = 9/3

x = 3

And y = 2x - 3

y = 2(3) - 3

y = 6 - 3

y = 3
