Question:- Find X

Given:-

  1. A rectangle consist of 4 identical triangle
  2. diagonals of rectangle are at 90° to each other
  3. length of half of the one diagonal is 8 in
  4. length of the half of the other diagonal is X in
  5. Area of the rectangle = 48 in²
  6. Base of triangle = 8in
  7. height of the triangle = x in

Answer :- X = 3 in

Formula :- Area of the rectangle is equal to the sum of the area of the all four the triangle

area \: of \: rectangle \\= 4 * area \: of \:identical \: triangle

Explanation :-

area \: of \: rectangle =\\ 4 * area \: of \:identical \: triangle

48 {in}^(2) = 4 * (1)/(2) * base * height \\ 48 {in}^(2) = 2 * base * height \\ (48)/(2) = 8 * height \\ \frac{ \cancel{48} {}^( \: \: 24) }{ \cancel{2}} = 8 * height \\ (24)/(8) = height \\ \frac{ \cancel{24} {}^( \: \: 3) }{ \cancel{8}} = height \: \\ height = x = 3in \:

Answer:

  • No, x = 3 in

Explanation:

The area of the rhombus is half the product of its diagonals

  • A = 1/2(2x*16) = 48
  • 16x = 48
  • x = 48/16
  • x = 3
