Explanation:

The way they made this problem makes it seem more complicated than it is.

You can use process of elimination to get rid of the first two, because if you look at them, they mean exactly the same thing. Multiplying an equation by 1 does not change it at all, so the first two can be eliminated.

Then, the third option says to multiply [A2] by 2 and add it to [A1].

[A2] * 2:

2(x + 2y) = 2(8)

2x + 4y = 16

Then add it to [A1]:

2x + 4y = 16

+ (3x - 4y = -1)

------------------------

5x = 15

This is the same equation as [B2], so this is your answer.
