Narciso and Ceto want to donate some money to an orphanage. To raise fun they are selling neckleses and earings that they have made themselfs, earing costing 5 dolars and neckleses costing 8 dolars. What is the range of possible sells they could make in other to donate 100 dolars?

The possible sells are 12 earrings and 5 necklace and 4 earrings and 10 necklace in order to donate 100 dollars

The range is possible whole numbers of "x" and "y" that would make the equation 5x + 8y = 100 true

Solution:

Given that, To raise fun they are selling necklaces and earrings that they have made them self

From given,

Cost of each earring = $ 5

Cost of each necklace = $ 8

They have to make 100 dollars

Let the number of earnings to be sold be "x"

Let the number of necklace to be sold be "y"

Then, we frame a equation as:

number of earnings to be sold x Cost of each earring + number of necklace to be sold x Cost of each necklace = 100


x * 5 + y * 8 = 100

5x + 8y = 100

Range of possible sells are:

We have to find possible values of x and y such that the equation equals 100

Substitute x = 12 and y = 5

5(12) + 8(5) = 100

60 + 40 = 100

100 = 100

Thus one of possible sells are 12 earrings and 5 necklace

Substitute x = 4 and y = 10

5(4) + 8(10) = 100

20 + 80 = 100

100 = 100

Thus another possible sell are 4 earrings and 10 necklace
