When a business already reach its peak, its often have a lot of disposable capital that can be allocated for future ventures. Entering another industry tend to be seen as a huge opportunity for them to expand their profit margin.

On such cases, many wealthy business owners choose to buy either conduct a merger or business acquisitions rather than building the company from ground up. What they do is they take an existing business and make it a part of their parent company. This is what we usually referred to as Conglomerates.

We have a couple of conglomerates here in united states. Here are some example : Disney, alphabet, Berkshire Hathaway , Comcast, etc.
