bearing in mind that a whole is just 1 = 25/25 = same/same and so on.

well, let's see first off, how much of the house was painted in total, 2/5 + 3/7, and the remaining is just the whole minus that.

\bf \stackrel{Monday}{\cfrac{2}{5}}+\stackrel{Tuesday}{\cfrac{3}{7}}\implies \stackrel{\textit{using the LCD of 35}}{\cfrac{(7)2~~+~~(5)3}{35}}\implies \cfrac{14+15}{35}\implies \cfrac{29}{35} \\\\\\ \stackrel{whole}{1} - \cfrac{29}{35}\implies \cfrac{1}{1}-\cfrac{29}{35}\implies \stackrel{\textit{using the LCD of 35}}{\cfrac{(35)1~~-~~(1)29}{35}}\implies \cfrac{6}{35}

Answer:

16/35

Explanation:

since the denominators are different for both fractions, change the denominator.

2/5= 14/35

3/7= 15/35

15/35+ 14/35= 19/35

35- 19= 16
