Answer:

Is there a difference between seeing and knowing? Yes

isn’t it that seeing is passive, without judging but trying to see as much reality in what is confronting you? and, knowing is the judging part, where you decide how important or unimportant the things in the world are?

on the other hand, ‘seeing’ is thought to be an absorption of the elements of the cosmos, nourishing the spirit. whereas, ‘knowing’ is held to be a reduction of spirit, narrowing of consciousness to ‘deal’ with the world on its own level.

but, further, to ‘see’ is in some cases used as ‘to identify’ — ‘i saw a cat’ kind of identities — naming something from the storage shelves of memory and attaching a label to ‘cat’ as ‘cat’. where, ‘knowing’ on this level means only ‘that is my cat ‘russell’.
