Answer:

Jeffrey had walked 12.4 meters.

Explanation:

Given:

Length of the bedroom = 2 meter

Width of the bedroom = 5 meter

We need to find the how far he walked in the room.

Solution:

Jeffrey walks down the length, across the width, and then diagonally back to the far left corner.

So first we will find the length of the diagonal.

Diagonal of the room can be calculated by taking square root of the sum of the square of the length and width.

framing in equation form we get;

Length of the Diagonal =
√(2^2+5^2) =√(4+25)=√(29)=5.38\ m

Rounding to nearest tenth we get;

Length of the Diagonal = 5.4 m

Now given:

Jeffrey walks down the length, across the width, and then diagonally back to the far left corner.

so we can say that;

Distance Jefferey walk = Length + width + length of the diagonal.

Distance Jefferey walk =
2+5+5.4 = 12.4 \ m

Hence Jeffrey had walked 12.4 meters.
