Answer:

Some pros of nuclear energy entail it's low greenhouse gas emissions, high power output, inexpensive electricity, lack of reliance on fossil fuels, high energy density, and low operation cost. Cons of nuclear energy are it's high building expense, high accident rate, negative environmental impacts, limited fuel supply, security threats, massive nuclear waste expulsion, and lack of renewability.

Nuclear energy is a more viable alternative than fossil fuels, but is ultimately not sustainable or environmentally-safe in the long run. With it's high cost and the limited Uranium in the world, the government would spend millions to build these plants just for them to slowly deplete the environment and then run out of it's energy source, similar to fossil fuels. While it could be seen as a short-term solution, it is ultimately not worth it because of the debt the country would be put in just for it's construction and the ultimate lack of reward as it will just eventually run out and simultaneously worsen the environment, cause nuclear accidents, and be costly and dangerous overall.

Besides nuclear energy and fossil fuels, the best alternative for renewable energy sources of the future is space-based solar energy. Space-based solar power involves collecting the sun's energy in space, and then wirelessly transmitting it to Earth as a power source. Unlike oil, gas, ethanol, and coal plants, space solar power does not emit harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and would not add to global warming. Contrasting to coal and nuclear plants, space solar power does not compete for or depend upon increasingly scarce fresh water resources. The solar energy available in space is billions of times larger than what is used today and the lifetime of the sun is an estimated 4-5 billion years, making space solar power a truly long-term energy solution. Antithetical from nuclear power, space solar power will not produce hazardous waste, which needs to be stored and guarded for hundreds of years. Although it comes with it's drawbacks, space solar power is a viable power source for the future, while nuclear energy only provides an environmentally-hazardous, costly, short-term solution to the ultimate need for sustainable energy.

Answer:

Pros

Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions. ...

High Power Output. ...

Inexpensive Electricity. ...

Nuclear Energy Doesn't Rely on Fossil Fuels. ...

Economic Impact. ...

Back-end Environmental Impact. ...

Past History of Nuclear Accidents. ...

High Up-Front and End Stage Cost.

Step-by-step explanation:

Nuclear power is dirty, dangerous and expensive. ... Nuclear energy is both expensive and dangerous, and just because nuclear pollution is invisible doesn't mean it's clean. Renewable energy is better for the environment, the economy, and doesn't come with the risk of a nuclear meltdown.
