a = –7

Solution:

Given expression is

$(a+4)/(3) -(a)/(7) =(a+7)/(5) $

Combine like terms together, we get

$(a+4)/(3) -(a)/(7) -(a+7)/(5)=0 $

Take LCM for the denominators (LCM of 3, 7, 5 = 105) to make it same.

$((a+4)*35)/(3*35) -(a*15)/(7*15) -((a+7)*21)/(5*21)=0 $

$(3a+140)/(105) -(15a)/(105) -(21a+147)/(105) =0$

$(3a+140+15a-21a-147)/(105) =0$

$(3a+15a-21a+140-147)/(105) =0$

$(-a-7)/(105) =0$

Do cross multiplication.

-a-7=0 (Any number multiplied by 0 gives 0)

-a=7

Multiply (–1) on both sides to get the positive a.

a = –7

Hence, the answer is a = –7.
