There are 350% more students enrolled in Spanish class than Latin class. How does expressing 350% as a decimal prove that more than 3 times as many students are enrolled in Spanish class as are enrolled in Latin class?

Answer:

Explanation:

Let S represent the number of students enrolled in Spanish class.

Let L represent the number of students enrolled in Latin class.

There are 350% more students enrolled in Spanish class than Latin class. This is expressed as

S = 350% of L

S = 350/100 × L

S = 3.5 × L = 3.5L

Since 3.5 is greater then 3, then more than 3 times as many students are enrolled in Spanish class as are enrolled in Latin class.
