Tina is joining 3 sections of a quilt. Each section has 3 rows of 15 square pieces of fabric. How many squares will be in the complete quilt? Does the product change if you change the grouping of factors? Explain

Answer:

There will be 135 squares in total. Changing the order of the factors wont change the result.

Explanation:

(i am assuming that sqaures = sqaure pieces)

Each section has 3 rows of 15 square pieces, therefore each section has 3*15 = 45 sqaure pieces. Thus, the complete guilt will have 45*3 = 135 square pieces. Since all we do were multiplications, changing the order of the factors wont change the value of the product.
