Answer: the length of each of the congruent sides is 29 inches.

The length of the third side is 22 inches.

Explanation:

In an isosceles triangle, two sides are equal. The base angles are also equal.

Let x represent the Length of each of the congruent side.

The congruent sides are 7 inches longer than the third side of the triangle. This means that the length of the third side of the triangle is

x - 7

The formula for determining the perimeter of a triangle is

a + b + c

Where a, b and c are the length of each side of the triangle.

If the isosceles triangle has a perimeter of 80 inches, it means that

x + x + x - 7 = 80

3x - 7 = 80

3x = 80 + 7 = 87

x = 87/3 = 29 inches

The length if the third side would be

29 - 7 = 22 inches
