Hey, I really don't get this and would love a little help, please.

A triangle has sides with lengths in a ratio of proportions 3:6:8. one of the sides is 24, find the minimum and maximum perimeter of the triangle.

I'm really hoping one ou you all can help me understand.

Answer:

51 and 136

Explanation:

Since you don't know the side length, put an X in front of it. So the ratio becomes 3x:6x:8x.

Now, take the biggest number, 8 and set it to equal the side length.

8x=24.

x=3.

Now that you know x, multiply all of the values by 3, to get 24+18+9 which equals 51.

Repeat the process but with the smaller value.

3x=24.

x=8.

Multiply all the values by 8, 24+48+64, which equals 136. Therefore, the biggest perimeter is 136, and the smallest perimeter is 51.
