p = 32

Solution:

Given p represents the amount of air pressure in a tire.

t represents the time it takes for the tire to go flat and t = –8.

To find the value of p, if
(p)/(t)=-4.

(p)/(t)=-4

Substitute t = –8 in the above equation.

(p)/(-8)=-4

Do cross multiply, we get

⇒ p = (–8) × (– 4)

p = 32

Hence, the value of p is 32 if the quotient
(p)/(t) is –4.
