Y varies jointly as x and z z. If y = 6 when x = 3 and z = 9, find y when x = 4 and z = 3.6.

but z is in square root, just the symbol doesn't show.

Answer:

y = (8/5)√10

Explanation:

You seem to have ...

y=kx√(z)

We can find k from the given values ...

(y)/(x√(z))=k=(6)/(3√(9))=(6)/(3\cdot 3)=(2)/(3)

Then for the new values, ...

y=(2)/(3)\cdot 4√(3.6)=(8√(90))/(3\cdot 5)=(8√(10))/(5)
