Adding or subtracting fractions with different denominators

1 Answer

2 votes

Step-by-step explanation: You can't continue on with the problem until the denominators are the same. So you need to find the LCD (Least Common Denominator). For example...

(1)/(2) +(1)/(3) The LCD is six

(1*3)/(2*3)=(3)/(6) =(1)/(3)

(1)/(2)+ (1)/(3)= (3)/(6) +(2)/(6)

(3+2)/(6)= (5)/(6)

Hope this helps, have a BLESSED and wonderful day! :-)
