Explanation:

get y by itself on one equation.

-4x + y = 3 ... add 4x to each side.

y = 4x + 3

plug in 4x + 3 for y in the other equation.

8x - 2y = 1

8x - 2(4x+ 3) = 1 ... plug in the y value

8x - 8x + 3 = 1 ... distribute the 2

3 = 1 ... solve

3 does not equal 1 so it is no solutions.
