Answer:

Therefore Area of Rectangle IJKL is 108 unit².

Explanation:

Given:

The vertices of a Rectangle are

I ( 6 , 8)

J ( 6 , -1)

K ( -6 , -1)

L ( -6 ,8)

To Find:

Area of Rectangle IJKL= ?

Solution:

First we will find the Length and Width of Rectangle by Distance Formula ,

l(IJ) = \sqrt{((x_(2)-x_(1))^(2)+(y_(2)-y_(1))^(2) )}

Substituting the values we get

l(IJ) = \sqrt{((6-6)^(2)+(-1-8)^(2) )}

l(IJ) = \sqrt{((0)^(2)+(-9)^(2) )}\\l(IJ)=√(81)=9\ unit

Similarly for JK we will have,

l(JK) = \sqrt{((-6-6)^(2)+(-1-(-1))^(2) )}\\l(JK)=√(144)=12\ unit

Now

Length=IJ =9\ unit\\Width=JK=12\ unit

Now Area of Rectangle is given by

\textrm{Area of Rectangle}=Length* Width

Substituting the values we get

\textrm{Area of Rectangle IJKL}=9* 12=108\ unit^(2)

Therefore Area of Rectangle IJKL is 108 unit².
