So total amount of mixture = amount of water + amount of medication

= 12+x

Therefore

% medication =( x÷12+x)×100

20 =( x÷12+x)×100


20 =(x)/(12+x) X 100

20(12+x) =100x

240+20x =100x

100x-20x =240

80x =240

x =240÷80

x=3

so 3 ounces of medication to be added to get 20%solution of medication
