we know that

In a parallelogram, opposite angles are congruent and consecutive angles are supplementary

In this problem the quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram

so


x=70^o -----> by opposite angles in a parallelogram


x+y=180^o ---> by consecutive angles in a parallelogram

substitute the value of x


70^o+y=180^o


y=180^o-70^o=110^o
