Answer:

The number x is -3

Therefore x=-3

Explanation:

Given problem is "Three added to eight times a number is the same as three times the value of two times the number -1"

Let x be the number

It can be written as

3+8* x=3(2* x-1)

3+8x=3(2x-1) ( applying the distributive property )

3+8x=3(2x)+3(-1)

3+8x=6x-3

subtracting (6x-3) on both sides we get

3+8x-(6x-3)=6x-3-(6x-3)

3+8x-6x+3=6x-3-6x+3

6+2x=0 ( ading the like terms )

2x=-6

x=-(6)/(2)

Therefore x=-3

The number x is -3
